Student Works Painting Process
The most critical part of a painting process is the surface preparation. Preparation directly impacts the quality of the finished work.
Proper surface preparation;
- enhances the surface protection offered by the top paint coat
- prolongs the protection lifetime
- over the lifetime of the home or business, results in a cost savings

Steps in Painting Process |

full area wash when necessary, depending upon the amount of build-up; power-washed or hosed down
-
scrape and sand all areas with peeling paint

all bare metal surfaces are primed with galvanized metal primer

on dirt buildup or mildew areas are cleaned with TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate) or 'green' alternatives

wire brush flaking and deteriorating stucco

stucco-patch large areas in stucco

wood filling holes in wood siding

caulk small cracks in stucco

Step 1: survey the job site
Step 2: perform surface preparation activities;
wash, scrape and sand all failing areas
Step 3: spot prime all exposed (scraped & sanded) surfaces
Step 4: paint / stain all areas
Step 5: clean up job site
Step 6: review completed job with home owner |
